What time does my trash/recycling need to be at the curb?

Trash and recyclables need to be at the curb by midnight the night before your scheduled collection day.

Does trash inside my cart have to be bagged? 

Yes.You are required to bag your trash so that it can be cleanly dumped by our drivers/trucks. Bagging your trash helps keep your cart odor-free and helps prevent trash from scattering. Our drivers will not reach down into the cart or can to remove stuck/frozen trash or pick up litter around your can.

Can I dispose of electronics in my trash? 

E-waste is defined as any device capable of receiving and displaying television or video programming. State regulations require electronics (TV’s, Computers, Printers) be properly recycled.   Click for additional information on e-waste disposal. E-waste can be disposed of at Valley Waste for a fee.

Can I dispose of paint in my trash? 

Paint may be placed out with your regular trash if it is solidified. Sawdust, sand, kitty litter may be used to help dry it out. Alternatively, hardware stores that carry paint also sell packets of powder that will harden paint in minutes. Place your cans of paint outside of trash can with lids removed.

Can I dispose of propane tanks?

No - propane tanks cannot be placed in any carts, commercial containers, or roll-off boxes.

Where can I drop off trash or recycling? 

Trash (fees apply) and recycling can be dropped off at our TC Recycling facility in Mars or the Seneca Landfill in Evans City.

Can I dispose of e-waste in my trash? 

We offer scheduled pickup of E-Waste along with other hazardous household products, in select areas. Due to permit rules, this service is available only to current residential customers in the areas below:

  • Richland Township 
  • Pine Township 
  • Marshall Township 
  • Fox Chapel Borough

For those who do not reside in these areas: Drop-off service is available at TC Recycling (fees apply). You can find out more about TC Recycling's drop-off facilities here. Solidified LATEX paint may be placed out with your regular trash. Please contact our customer service department via call/text/email/live chat for further instructions. Where should I place my trash can and recycling bin? 
  • Place cart on a level area within 5 ft. of the street. Wheels away from street and lid opening to the street. Keep 5 ft. away from any object such as a mailbox, vehicle, tree, basketball hoop, etc. 
  • Trash Cart: Use trash bags and don’t put more in your cart than it can hold with its lid closed. Drivers will not reach into carts to remove items stuck/frozen to the bottom.
  • Recycle Cart: Place items loose in the cart. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Keep lid closed. You can view and print our recycling guidelines here. 
  • Please be sure that no overhead wires or tree branches interfere with lifting the carts vertically. Carts placed too close to any object or an overhead obstruction will not be picked up due to the liability of damage to the object.

Please DO NOT deface the cart. Additional charges may apply for the replacement of a cart damaged or defaced by a customer.

Where can I find my recycle collection schedule? 

At the top of this page, you can enter your municipality and street address or your customer number to get a printable waste and recycling calendar.

Can I dispose of large items / furniture? 
We do offer curbside disposal of additional items that may not fit within your trash cart or may not be included in the regular residential service. *Fees may apply; this varies by municipality. Please contact Customer Service for further instruction and/or pricing. 

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Large Appliances & Bulk Items: household furniture, furnishings, appliances 
  • Mattress / Box springs *Needs to be wrapped in plastic and taped closed for the protection of our workers. 
  • Building materials: refuse caused by repairs, alterations, remodeling, demolition and/or construction of any structures. 
  • Carpet, rugs and padding: *Must be cut in sections no longer than 4 ft. in length, securely rolled and tied and not weighing over thirty (30) pounds.  
What holidays might affect my collection day? 
Vogel Disposal Service observes New Years’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (Fourth of July), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day on the days on which they fall. If your collection falls on or after a weekday holiday it will be one day later that week. We do collect on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day. How do I report a "missed collection"? 
All requests for recovery of missed collection must be made within 24-hours of collection day. Call or text us during normal business hours at (724) 625 1511 or use our contact page anytime!

How do I dispose of a refrigerator or air conditioner? 

These items contain hazardous refrigerant. Due to permit rules, curbside collection is available only to current residential customers in Pine Township or Marshall Township. These items can be disposed of for an additional pre-paid fee. Please contact us before setting these types of items out for collection.

If the refrigerant is professionally removed by an HVAC technician and you are able to provide certification proving this has been done, we can offer curbside collection for an additional prepaid fee.
